FAQ
How long does it take to hatch eggs?
Typically goose eggs average between 28-35 days. Some depends on breed of goose and other factors include humidity levels during incubation. If you are letting your goose sit, Day 1 is the day she starts sitting full time. She may still lay and egg here and there, but usually stops laying at this point.
Should i let my goose sit or incubate the eggs?
This may take some trial and error to figure out. I have had some geese that are excellent sitters. However, my sebastopols are typically not sitters. You can try, but I recommend having an incubator handy just in case. It's magical if your geese let you be part of the process. I loved it, but if i want to ensure i have goslings hatch, I collect eggs daily and incubate, setting batches of eggs every Friday. Egg fertility levels decrease after 10-14 days. Even if you let your girls sit on eggs, I recommend marking the dates the eggs were laid (checking daily) so you know the age of the egg.
